Minute Mastermind | Emma Downey - Founder Women Who Do & Freelance Marketing Consultant
If you're getting back into the swing of networking or it's something you're just beginning to dip those little tootsies into - here are my top 3 tips for making networking work for you:
1. Find your networking tribe
Not every networking group is the same. Some are pay-as-you-go, some are free, some are monthly fees. Some are more formal and some are relaxed (like ours!). Some are mixed gender, some are gender-specific. Figure out where you are most comfortable and start there.
2. Know your goal
It's good to know what you want to achieve with networking. Do you want to make friends? Increase brand awareness? Find an investor? Once you know it will be easier to go into the room/online space with a purpose and focus.
3. Follow up
If networking isn't working for you, check that you're following up with those you've met and are staying in touch. Follow them on LinkedIn or Instagram. At our networking events I encourage people to make one coffee date with someone new they've met. Attending the event is just the start of the networking process.
BONUS
Remember; networking is about mutual benefit. Don't take, take, take - go in prepared to give too.
